On the autumn/winter catwalks there was a real feeling of androgynous dressing on the catwalks particularly with the likes of Androgynous supermodels Andrej Pejic and Lea t on the catwalk.
Androgynous look |
However, the look isn't just for your clothes it can also be channelled for your hair; but don't worry you don't have to cur all your hair off into a short back and sides just yet (unless you want to of course)! You could take inspiration from the likes of Evan Rachel Wood whose sleek pixie crop is the perfect mix of androgyny and sexy feminine. If you do opt for a sexy crop then all you need to style your hair is a ghd hair straightener - a ghd IV mini styler is also great, which has smaller plates is perfect for styling shorter hair.
However, if you are attached to your longer hair that doesn't mean you can't get the androgynous look instead what you need to do is keep the hair ultra sleek and shiny. For a feminine twist you can try a half up half down look or you could sleek back all your hair. You could take inspiration from the Giambattista Valli catwalk where the models wore the hair uber sleek with stark and severe side partings. What's more you can even channel another of this season's key looks the ponytail, just make sure it is really slicked back.Or what about Gucci's updos where they had tight sleeked back buns on the catwalk.
To style it the best thing to do is to first blow dry your hair with a hairdryer, then use your flat irons to smooth through the hair so that is sleek and smooth. For the look you don't want any kinks whatsoever, so by using a ghd you know it will be really smooth and sleek as the ceramic plates glide easily through the hair without snagging.
